Now here’s what happened this week…

Parliamentary Meetings

We don’t have the Wednesday circle times anymore. So, the Monday judiciary now has two parts. It starts with announcements which are informations or directions that everyone has to hear. Ex. Don’t forget to flush the toilet. It also includes an appreciation and disappointment round, where anyone can express themselves without being questioned. The second part of the meeting is where we have discussions on the agenda and some decisions are taken. This part is not mandatory for everyone to attend.

Sessions

Some of the sessions this time are: Philosophy, Health and Diseases, Logical/Analytical reasoning, Science, Language, Cooking, TWTW/Geopolitics, Math, Games/Quizzes and Art with Shri. Two weeks of trial period is over and next week onwards kids will sign up for sessions of their choice.

Mediation circles

We are calling the complaints/grievance redressals as Mediation circles. The mediation minister holds this circle everyday with the help of a facilitator. The basic assumption of these circles is that the person who does the mischief is not doing intentionally to harm or hurt anyone. So understanding the fallout because of their action from the perspective of the “victim” can help in some auto correction. At least that’s the hope!

Project day

This time many opted out of the project day, stating that there wasn’t enough time to prepare. Only six of them presented out of which two were suggested to do a redo. The post presentation discussions went into the direction of whether or not there is a choice for doing a redo. The presenter should have the choice some said but then what about the audience who gave their time. How does the audience reconcile if they sat through a bad presentation? If the presenter doesn’t take the feedback then the audience will have to endure future bad presentations. We couldn’t somehow come to a conclusion, so to be continued…

Football Club

You must already know that we have lost 7 footballs. Some to our neighbour, who covertly hid it. Yes we have eye witnesses! Some got squashed under the vehicles when the ball went flying on the road. Now since the kids have not come with a foolproof plan of how to get another football, this week tuesday morning we didn’t have a football to play with. We all arrived with shoes, cones and water bottles in hand but no ball. They blamed each other for not getting their personal footballs. There is no solution yet, we will see what happens next week.

Movie Club - once in a month

We saw Ghoomer, a movie about a girl who meets with an accident in which she looses her right arm. She was an upcoming cricketer and the movie is about her comeback. All the budding cricketers at LC were glued to their seats or rather floor. We also opened our new movie screen. It is a thousand times better than projecting on the white wall. Actually few kids took the leadership and set up the entire system. And boy there were so many things to be connected. The laptop, projector, speaker and phone were synced to the mini sec. They also did a lot of jugaad.

We also have started on a few mini projects at LC where we have installed shelves in the pantry and play zone. A new leaf composter is also ready which will sort out all the mess behind the tree. Few parents who has expressed interest in starting some beautification projects in LC are now welcome to take the initiative.
